EL PASO, TEXAS – (June 13, 2006) – Hunt Building Company, Ltd., announced that it has been selected by the United States Department of Defense to design, develop, and construct military family housing units at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas. The award followed a competitive bid process by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Ft. Worth District.

The Dyess Base project is expected to cost $85.3million, and includes demolition of 405 family housing units and construction of 326 new units on base property near Abilene, Texas.

The issued contract calls for Hunt Building to design, build, and replace the housing, while ownership and management of the property will remain with the U.S. Air Force. The new construction will provide Air Force personnel and their families with a civilian-comparable,
high-quality residential living experience, which Air Force spokespersons indicate is fundamental in retaining career servicemen and -women.

Hunt Building has been recognized nationally as a provider of high-quality military housing construction, receiving numerous awards from both private and military sectors for design ingenuity and building integrity.

Mario Gonzales, Senior Estimator for Hunt, served as project leader for the Dyess proposal. “We are very pleased that the Air Force accepted our proposal as best overall,” Gonzales stated, “It is our intent to complete this project at the highest level of satisfaction for the Air Force families who will live there.”
